The Perth Wildcats are out of the NBL finals race after a heartbreaking 89-88 loss against the Adelaide 36ers.
Adelaide's win means game three will not be required and they will go on to play Melbourne in the championship decider.
Despite a 31-point game from star import Bryce Cotton the Wildcats couldn't find the final blow.
Leading by five points with just 55 seconds left the 36ers went on a 7-1 run to take the game away.
Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson said sport could be glorious and so cruel.
“The basketball gods smile down on you sometimes, and sometimes they take it away.” Gleeson said.
“I said to the guys, I’m extremely proud of how they played today. That was Wildcats basketball, it was tough, they gave everything they had on the court.”
