Despite a gallant performance the Dockers have fallen four-points short of victory against Adelaide.
Dana Hooker booted two goals and collected a game-high 20 possessions in a match played for the majority in temperatures above 30 degrees.
Despite the 6.4.40 to 5.6.36 loss coach Michelle Cowan said she was proud of her group.
"I couldn't fault their effort, they really came to play and put up a really good contest," Cowan said.
"That's the expectation week in, week out, that we bring that effort and drive and intensity and pressure and passion to play."
The Dockers will host Carlton next Sunday afternoon back at home at Fremantle Oval.
