A missing tourist has been found alive and well after spending a night in the outback.

A second day of air and land search for a missing 64-year-old tourist has been called off with the man located on Wednesday morning.

Around midday yesterday Police were notified that Edwin Thomson had walked away from a tour group at Manning Gorge, near the Mt Barnett Roadhouse in the state's north.

State Emergency Service volunteers and a helicopter searched the area between Kununurra and Broome yesterday, but could not locate Mr Thomson.

There were plans to continue a search with the help of WA Police at first light on Wednesday, but the man was luckily found early in the morning.

Mr Thomson is now being taken to Police and will likely undergo a medical assessment.
