Information for Clients

For rules and regulations concerning radio advertising click the logo below.

See our blog for clients here: http://coastclients.blogspot.com.au/

Sometimes Length IS Important:

Your radio script length is very, very important:

A SOFT SELL commercial is one with one idea or theme in it – the length is around the 60 word mark for a 30 second spot and 20 words for a 15 second spot. Click here to hear a soft sell spot.

A MEDIUM SELL commercial are usually at the 75-77 word mark for an easy to listen to – 30 second read. Again they only have one idea or theme in them. Click here to hear a medium sell creative spot.

A HARD SELL commercial has a maximum limit of 88 words (and that is a lot of information and very hard sell). Click here to hear a hard sell spot.

Idea’s and Theme’s in Commercials:

A creative script using only one idea or theme can be more emotionally investing to the audience as they become caught up in the drama or comedy of the situation.

These can be very entertaining and help to make your business name and the product or service being offered, at the top of people’s mind when they need it.

Shopping list commercials which contain a huge list of products or service’s – can be very hard for listeners to follow and pick out the one thing that they need or want. They also are in danger of becoming what is known as a “shouty commercial” – and they tend to make people turn off the radio, or change stations.

I Want To Include My Phone Number:

Phone numbers – especially mobile phone numbers are generally not a good idea in radio commercials, as people don’t have time to write them down – unless we repeat them twice or more, or if you have a simple to remember number like a 13 phone number.

Normal phone numbers are made up of 8 digits – that is eight words to include in your word count, or 16 if you repeat the number. Mobile numbers are of course 10 digits (or 10 words).

So, phone numbers can be included – but bear in mind that it will cut into the word count of what you want to offer and detract from the message.

OK – What About My Website?

Websites are fine – but will be cut back from www.mybusinessrocks.com.au to be written and said as “My Business Rocks dot com dot au” which is 7 words – again cutting into your word count for the message of your commercial.

In fact – driving traffic to your website is the best way to give them more even more details about a special offer – as more and more people are becoming tech savvy – it is becoming easier and easier.

Or alternatively – links from this website www.6mm.com.au to your own website can be established very simply at low cost’s. Contact Mike via email mike@6mm.com.au or call 9581 2666.

Script Approvals

The approval of your script(s)  is very important – please make sure that you check over your scripts for any errors that may have crept in or changes that need to be made.

These changes need to be made before it goes into our Production Department.

Also, can you please let us know of any strange or unusual pronunciations of names, services or products names. Even a phone call to get the correct phonetic pronunciation would be a huge help. More often than not, you will be contacted by us before it even gets to the approval stage to check.

Signed approvals for scripts can be faxed back to us on 9581 2786.

Or email approval is accepted.

Changes and Turn Around Times

And finally – Sometimes your commercial may be voiced by someone outside the station – if this is the case, it is usually done at a production company based in the eastern states.

So any changes or incorrect pronunciations – will need 24 hour turn around to be fixed on air, please bare this in mind when requesting changes after the commercial has been produced.
